Hi, this may seem like a strange request but I'm currently designing a new website and I wondered if I could use your picture of a cup of tea?! I'm from Leeds, currently living in Dallas, Texas and am about to re-launch my voice-over career so am designing a funky website. I love your photo and being from the north, I do love a cup of tea! I would hope to use it faded in the background for my opening page with some text over the top. Would that be OK? I'd love to hear back from you - thanks - Ella Slayne

Well, thats one way of looking at it. But poeple fail to see the other part of it that its raising the standards of living. Give a thought of scenario 10-15 years back, engineers where supposed to be most jobless creatures in the nation, with a very low pay. Its true that the structure of society has imbalanced beacause of more poeple inclining towards IT. Also, we work for USA, but thats not for free. If you feel low on being that chunk of software engineer, then you are responsible for this because you chose this path. Why not something else, only because of the cash inflows in IT. Its like 'jis thaali main khaana usi main ched karna' .

@Puneet-
I cant really diasagree with you on the last paragraph. The post was already so long and I had to submit it on another blog, etc etc and I caved in to those pressures. Hope to re-write that part some day soon.

Btw, good to see you here after our IT-BHU days!

That was a great article but somehow, I got a feeling that the concluding paragraph was hurriedly written & not represents your or someone's though process. The biggest inspiration behind writing such an article is a feeling of helplessness that is bred whenever someone is doing everything just to maintain status quo in life (in a broad sense). We are enslaved by our needs.
Ex: Our parents never thought of buying a house at our age for the simple reason that they wanted everything "fully owned" with no hypothecations (remember your car or bike R/C ):-). Have you ever seen your parents possessing anything which is not their full owned. But look the pseudo life which Saaftware engineers are leading, you can count the articles admist hell lot of wares in your house, on your fingers which are really 100% owned by you.
There are numerous things which aren't going in the right direction, but out of slavery, people are forced to do. This is called consumerism spread by bhakts of modern day Saint Kotler who believe in creating unjust desires for your product and gradually transforming them to needs...

I am yet to solve this riddle. but yeah I have stopped taking loans/credit cards and trying to meet lot of people hailing from backgrounds outside software. This indeed helps to balance the thought process and have a wider perspective of life.
